For AVR® Development. CrossPack is a development environment for Atmel’s AVR® microcontrollers running on Apple’s Mac OS X, similar to AVR Studio on Windows. It consists of the GNU compiler suite, a C library for the AVR, the AVRDUDE uploader and several other useful tools. AVR Studio by Atmel Corporation is an integrated development environment (IDE) that will help you create and debug applications for the Atmel AVR microcontrollers. Even though there is no version of AVR Studio for Mac available for download, you can try other tools for app development. I am new to Embedded, starting with AVR programming using C.I am working on Mac OS 10.9.4, so far I am using avrdude and xCode as IDE. It works very well, for now I am testing my code using Proteus. But now I want to burn my.hex to AVR ATMega16 board. I have USBasp, which I am able to connect and it lights up the board.Now after searching on the internet, I think Mac is not detecting my board. Use the Visual Studio debugger to quickly find and fix bugs across languages. The Visual Studio for Mac debugger lets you step inside your code by setting Breakpoints, Step Over statements, Step Into and Out of functions, and inspect the current state of the code stack through powerful visualizations.

There's finally a good/fast way of installing all these tools under Mac OS X PPC or i386! First, download the OSX-AVR packge for PPC (older macs) or i386 (Intel macs, latest ones) from sourceforge. Run the OSX-AVR.mpkg.

Is there any solution for working with AVRStudio on MAC OSX Platform?
i am an embedded sw developer and I am also new on MAC and I would love to be able to migrate totally from windows environment.
Please don't suggest to use any type of virtual machines..
I hope that apple read this message and find a solution with ATMEL, PIC and other microcontroller manufactures to bring their working environment (Emulators, Simulators, ...) to the MAC.
Until this dream comes true, Is there any suggestions?
